Tourism in the district
Saint Martin Canal, along with Richard-Lenoir and Bréguet-Sabin Squares, French-style gardens enhanced with fountains, are nice places to stroll. In 1994, Boulevard Richard-Lenoir was entirely redeveloped: gardens, drinking fountains, water fountains, bowling greens and children’s games were added.

Every day at 9:45 am and 2:30 pm you can take a cruise on the Saint Martin Canal which leaves from the Paris-Arsenal (Bastille) marina.

At Ménilmontant, you’ll discover a modern architecture circuit and artists’ workshops, exhibitions and other points of interest.

Bastille is bursting with boutiques, cafés and restaurants, especially since the construction of the Opera.

In the heart of the Marais, you’ll admire numerous mansions constructed from hewn stone and colourful bricks, built since the beginning of the 17th century.

Place des Vosges houses luxury shops, café terraces and a major restaurant. It provides access to the Victor-Hugo museum and the Hotel de Sully. Its arcades welcome numerous musicians on nice days. The lawns on Square Louis XIII are a favourite spot to bask in the sun.
